I adore art and I love to create things with my hands. I recently tried a whack at pottery and I was fully uplifted! From the time I started my pottery piece till the time I ended it was about a month. I adored watching my piece unfold a little bit at a time. At first it was just one large brown blob. Then with some hard work, a little elbow grease, and a plan it started taking shape. After I molded my duck and I was satisfied with its shape I glazed it and it went off to the kiln. Then walah! I had a duck(oh goodness if it was only that easy haha)!
When I was finally finished with my duck and I brought it home for some reason I had this overwhelming love for my piece of pottery. Seriously though I was completely obsessed with it! Which I thought was kind of weird because it really is only an object. And besides it has a lot of imperfections. There are places that aren’t very smooth, it’s rough around the edges, and it’s coloring is splotchy. But I created it.I love that duck because I created it! I adore every part of it. The more I look at it the more I value it. Because in a way it reminds me of myself.
I was divinely created by Heavenly Father. I wasn’t an afterthought. I am not simply an object, but I am His. I too have imperfections. Those very imperfections make me, me! I am continually molding into the young women that I was created to become. I too experienced the refiner’s fire. Just like the duck, I am loved unimaginably and unconditionally by maker.
And so are you.
I John 4: 19 states “We love Him, because He first loved us”.
I am so thankful for this experience. It showed me a small little glimpse of what our Heavenly Father feels about His creations. He loves us unconditionally. He loves our imperfections, He loves our quirks, He loves entirely. Why?
Because He created us.
