This years Christmas Card photo! I love my sweet babies. My duck actually thinks I am his mother and follows me around outside! It still makes me giddy just thinking about it. That photo of Chloe just cracks me up! She does not look pleased…even though she makes the best Poodle Clause!
I myself am not particularly fond of being cold, but this week the cold weather taught me a beautiful lesson. Have you ever looked back at a time in your life that was very difficult and wished it never happened? Or do you ever wonder what your life would be like if you didn’t make a certain mistake? Would your life be better or easier? Those questions make me think of when I was 11; my older brother was in a motorcycle accident and was left with a brain injury. Seeing him go though the pain of rehabilitation and re-learning how to do basic tasks like eating and walking was truly heart wrenching. During this time, I witnessed hundreds of people reaching out to my family, I was able to learn how each day is a gift, I saw little tiny miracles around me constantly. Almost 9 years later I can still remember the outpouring of love and faith from that summer. My brother is still left with disabilities due to the accident, but he has shaped into an incredibly loving and compassionate person. I wouldn’t want to ever take that away from him.
One of my favorite scripture is Romans 8: 35,37-39. It states:
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shalltribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come
,39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. His atonement has the power to turn something that seems unfair and horrible into an answer to our prayers.
At first winter might seem full of grey colors, numb fingers, constant wind, and endless cold. But when you look closer it’s filled with laughs, hot chocolate. sitting by the fire, time with family, playing in the snow, and let’s be honest it really is gorgeous. I took these pictures outside my house and goodness gracious it was breathtaking.
Even the coldest of seasons can bring the greatest gifts.
